PHILADELPHIA - June 10, 2024 - DataBee ™, from Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS), today announced new capabilities in its DataBee Hive™ security, risk and compliance data fabric platform. DataBee EntityViews™, powered by a patent-pending entity resolution technology, introduces automated detection chaining that improves threat hunting, security detection fidelity, and insider risk monitoring. An enhanced set of ZTNA and SSE controls compliance dashboards accelerate zero trust compliance and provide greater performance insight to help reduce an organization's risk.

Deezer joins forces with Metrological to boost TV operator reach around the world
Rotterdam, Netherlands – January 26, 2022 – Metrological, a Comcast Company, today announced that Deezer, the global music streaming service, is now available in the Metrological App Library for Metrological’s global MVPD and TV operator customer base.
With a Deezer subscription, the Deezer music streaming app provides listeners with access to an audio catalogue of more than 73 million songs, podcasts and radio stations. Deezer offers users expertly curated playlists, channels and compilations from its editors, as well as a wide range of exclusive original content. Deezer is also the only audio streaming company to offer listeners their own musical Flow, which is an uninterrupted stream of music created by Deezer’s algorithm based on a person’s unique taste. Premium features can be unlocked by subscribing to a Premium plan.
The version of Deezer in the Metrological App Library was developed in the open, lightweight LightningTM app development language and Software Development Kit (SDK). Comcast Technology Solutions Launches VideoAI Service for Content Providers, Operators, and Advertisers
DENVER – January 20, 2022– Comcast Technology Solutions, a division of Comcast Cable that provides media and entertainment technology to content providers, operators, and advertisers, today announced the launch of a new service, Video Artificial Intelligence (VideoAI™), for customers across the globe. VideoAI is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) that can help companies understand and analyze video (live and on-demand), audio, and closed captions to create actionable metadata around content assets, generate and manage new content, improve advertising efficiency, and streamline operations.
VideoAI is based on commercial-scale implementations created and deployed by Comcast, NBCUniversal, and Sky. Comcast Technology Solutions now provides this capability to the broader media and entertainment industry as a fully managed, 24x7 service. Customers can use VideoAI to automatically analyze their video assets to identify and tag key onscreen moments (hard cuts, black frames, transitions, etc.); audio events (silence, specific sounds, etc.), and much more to support enhanced understanding of video content.
The underlying technology for VideoAI has been applied across millions of video assets to create such features as metadata segmentation for dynamic ad insertion (DAI); segmentation detection, such as detecting intros, credit rolls, auto-chaptering; and creating automated on-screen highlight reels during live sporting events. With VideoAI, content owners, operators, and advertisers can now work with Comcast Technology Solutions to develop their own business use cases and deploy them using a secure, flexible, and ready-to-use service.

Capabilities and Initial Services
Using software detectors that analyze video, VideoAI generates timely and actionable metadata and applications that can be used to create entirely new capabilities for content owners and advertisers. As part of the CTSuite, Comcast Technology Solutions’ VideoAI will offer a set of proven and off-the-shelf capabilities to customers, including:
Segmentation: VideoAI can be used to generate specific metadata to help companies enable optimal viewing experiences, chaptering with automated titles and summaries, and smart thumbnails. It can also help detect ad breaks to support dynamic ad insertion capabilities.
Contextual Advertising: VideoAI allows users to serve ads based on contextual information included in the video being watched. It detects content for brand opportunities or sensitivities, improving the value of every ad break.
From Live to VOD: Providers can prepare live events for VOD – creating on-the-fly thumbnails, titles, and summaries quickly after a live event has aired.

NOS Brings More Premium Apps to the Portuguese Market with Metrological

Wilt J. Hildenbrand Jr. Memorial Award Recognizes Rama Assaf-Smith with Rising Leader Award
EXTON, Pa. — (October 1, 2021) — The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) and SCTE Foundation today announced the winner of the Wilt J. Hildenbrand Jr. Rising Leader Award is Rama Assaf-Smith, Senior Director, Engineering Operations, for Comcast. The Hildenbrand scholarship will also support the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
As winner of the Wilt J. Hildenbrand Jr. Rising Leader Award, Rama Assaf-Smith is recognized as a rising cable telecommunications star under the age of 40. As a part of the Comcast team for seven years, she leads a team of data scientists, analysts and engineers who are focused on improving Comcast’s core residential product portfolio. Rama is highly regarded among her colleagues for her leadership skills, engineering strength, data knowledge, positive customer interactions and her role as an advocate for under-represented engineers.

The Hildenbrand award and scholarship fund was established in 2019 to honor the career and legacy of Wilt J. Hildenbrand, Jr., a technology pioneer and industry legend who passed away unexpectedly in 2018. The $200,000, five-year campaign was seeded by an initial donation of $40,000 from the YAS Foundation. Hildenbrand’s career included four decades with Cablevision. Wilt joined the company as chief engineer in 1976 and ultimately became executive vice president of technology and engineering. Among his innovations were Cablevision’s rollouts of 100 Mbps residential broadband, downloadable security for digital video services, and cloud-based navigation for legacy set-top boxes.

Fetch hits fast forward on app integration with the launch of the Metrological Application Platform
Sydney, September 20, 2021 - Fetch subscribers are set to gain access to even more world class content, thanks to an Australian-first partnership with Metrological, a Comcast company.
From next month, Fetch subscribers will have access to a first wave of apps available in Metrological’s App Library, including Acorn TV, iwonder, Vevo, Vimeo, Kidoodle, The Weather Network, and a rebuilt hayu app. Additional premium, niche, and localized apps will be added in the coming months.
Metrological offers a global cloud-based Application Platform that allows Fetch TV to quickly and seamlessly integrate apps into the Fetch service. Comcast Technology Solutions Launches Managed Terrestrial Distribution for Operators Across the United States
DENVER– August 26, 2021– Comcast Technology Solutions, a division of Comcast Cable that provides media and entertainment technology to operators, content providers, and advertisers, today announced the launch of a new Managed Terrestrial Distribution service to support the technological evolution of pay-TV operators across the United States.
Hundreds of regional operators currently rely upon Comcast Technology Solutions for content acquisition and distribution via a satellite-based managed service that has been in place for decades. Comcast Technology Solutions’ new Managed Terrestrial Distribution service is designed to help operators strengthen their video businesses, reduce expenses, and provide a path to IP video by leveraging ground-based video infrastructure currently being used by millions of subscribers.

NBC Olympics selects Comcast Technology Solutions to manage and deliver multi-screen assets across NBCU digital properties during the Olympic games Tokyo 2020
STAMFORD, CONN. & DENVER, CO. – August 5, 2021 – NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, and Peacock selected Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) to provide multi-screen video management and delivery for its production of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, which is taking place from July 23 – August 8, 2021. SES Renews Long-Term Relationship with Comcast Technology Solutions
Luxembourg, 15 June 2021 – SES today announced it will continue delivering Comcast Technology Solutions’ Managed Satellite Distribution service, formerly known as Headend in the Sky (HITS), that reaches hundreds of multichannel video programming distributor systems across the U.S. SES recently renewed its long-term relationship with Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS), a division of Comcast Cable that provides media and entertainment technology to advertisers, agencies and content providers.
As part of a new, multi-year extension agreement, SES will be transitioning CTS’s Managed Satellite Distribution service from SES-11 at 105 degrees West to AMC-11 at 131 degrees West. This is part of SES’s plan to clear the C-band spectrum in the U.S. to accommodate the deployment of 5G services in the coming years.
For more than two decades, CTS’s Managed Satellite Distribution service has enabled multichannel video affiliates to transition to digital services, reduce costs and reclaim valuable bandwidth for new services. SES is using advanced compression as part of the transition to AMC-11 and is working with CTS to ensure its Managed Satellite Distribution affiliates have a seamless transition, deliver a high-quality experience to their subscribers and ensure no interference from 5G transmissions on the cleared spectrum.
As part of its C-band clearing plan, SES will also be launching new C-band satellites to provide continuity of service well into the future for CTS and its Managed Satellite Distribution affiliates.
