DataBee, from Comcast Technology Solutions, launches new innovations for enhanced threat monitoring and zero trust implementation
PHILADELPHIA - June 10, 2024 - DataBee ™, from Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS), today announced new capabilities in its DataBee Hive™ security, risk and compliance data fabric platform. DataBee EntityViews™, powered by a patent-pending entity resolution technology, introduces automated detection chaining that improves threat hunting, security detection fidelity, and insider risk monitoring. An enhanced set of ZTNA and SSE controls compliance dashboards accelerate zero trust compliance and provide greater performance insight to help reduce an organization's risk.
“The DataBee security data fabric platform provides such a rich foundation for building out new capabilities and use cases, and innovations like DataBee EntityViews and our entity resolution technology are changing the game when it comes to threat hunting and insider threat monitoring,” said Nicole Bucala, Vice President and General Manager of DataBee. “I’m also thrilled to see how we’ve been able to leverage our Continuous Controls Monitoring capabilities into zero trust compliance dashboards that provide comparable visibility into any gaps in zero trust deployments.”
Zero trust network access (ZTNA) and security service edge (SSE) platforms have a rich reservoir of log data and insights into users, devices, and application activities that often go untapped for advanced security analytics.
To address this gap, DataBee provides connected data that works for everyone by weaving ZTNA and SSE solution logs with additional security sources and business insights. DataBee ‘connects the dots’ with DataBee EntityViews, powered by a patent-pending entity resolution technology. This innovation delivers increased security alert fidelity and actionability by using rich insights from zero-trust deployments without the need to manually correlate entities.
DataBee EntityViews automated detection chaining creates a ‘super alert’ to suggest immediate action to help organizations confront threats and reduce risk. This new capability helps companies dealing with “so many alerts, so little detections” not miss stealthy, slow, and low attacks. Low or medium-level alerts and activities from different systems can be woven together by DataBee’s fabric and enriched with signals from the transformed dataset to produce a meaningful alert timeline. These capabilities can be applied across a broad set of detection use cases and make user behavioral monitoring more comprehensive, improving threat hunting and insider risk monitoring.
Businesses can also use DataBee to accelerate their zero trust architecture (ZTA) journey with a new set of ZTNA and SSE controls compliance dashboards that can track the deployment of zero trust controls for key users, applications, and devices and continuously monitor that they are performing to desired standards. The insights provide a consistent and more accurate record of users and devices that access resources, and where and when those resources are being accessed.
DataBee will be demonstrating its new DataBee EntityViews capability and ZTA compliance dashboards at AWS re:Inforce, taking place from June 10-12 in Philadelphia. DataBee is a Gold sponsor. In conjunction with AWS re:Inforce, DataBee, AWS, and Accenture are hosting an event called Philly Above the Clouds on June 11 from 4:00-7:00 pm. This event will feature two panels including a CISO panel, “Innovation from Within”, and a technology panel, “Data at the Speed of Innovation”. Registration for the event can be found here.

DataBee, from Comcast Technology Solutions, Announces Strategic Technology Partnership with Databricks
PHILADELPHIA, Penn., January 18, 2024 — Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) today announced that its DataBee™ business unit, which developed and provides the DataBee security data fabric platform, has signed a strategic technology partnership agreement with Databricks, the Data and AI company. DataBee is now integrated with Databricks’ Data Intelligence Platform, expanding its data lake integrations in keeping with its goal of supporting a customer’s data lake of choice.
CTS also announced the general availability of DataBee 2.0, featuring new capabilities supporting SIEM optimization, security hygiene, and making security compliance a continuous and pain-free process. These enhancements are especially timely as enterprises grapple with new or updated compliance requirements such as PCI-DSS 4.0 and the SEC’s cybersecurity disclosure rule.
“We’ve been impressed both by DataBee’s ability to connect disparate security and IT data sources with business context and by how the results it delivers enable customers to improve security, risk and compliance initiatives,” said Roger Murff, VP of Technology Partners at Databricks. “Mutual customers will now be able to easily onboard, transform and analyze critical security data alongside their enterprise data to improve cybersecurity outcomes – all from directly within the Databricks platform.”
The DataBee security data fabric platform works with a customer’s data lake to collect, correlate and enrich data so that it can deliver the deep insights that help organizations remain competitive, secure and compliant. Thousands of organizations use Databricks’ Data Intelligence Platform to unify their data, analytics and AI initiatives. Combined, DataBee and Databricks allow large enterprises to quickly and cost-effectively unite enterprise data with security data for AI-powered insights that deliver economic value and improved security and compliance.
“Our mantra is ‘connected data that works for everyone’ and to do this we need to support the tools and technologies our customers are already using, which is why we’re delighted to have this integration with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform,” said Nicole Bucala, Vice President and General Manager, DataBee. “Together, Databricks and DataBee are providing the data platforms and intelligence that organizations need to put the full power of their data to work for them in this fast-moving, AI fueled world.”
DataBee 2.0
In addition to the Databricks integration, the 2.0 updates to the DataBee security data fabric platform include:
DataBee for Security Threats
SIEM optimization makes it easier and significantly more affordable for security teams to obtain security insights from high volumes of data. Using active detection streams, security insights can be detected in log data as it’s being streamed to its destination. Now, customers can ‘leave no data behind’ while maximizing the value of their data lake and SIEM investments.
Insider threat hunting powered by Entity Resolution leverages Comcast’s patented technology, Entity Resolution, to track users or devices across any security event regardless of the data source. This eliminates the need to manually build correlations between entities, allowing both analysts and the analytics they run to rely on a single unique identifier for any user or device.
Security hygiene uses data sourced and analyzed from an organization’s environment to automatically and dynamically discover assets and suggest owners, helping organizations improve asset inventory by uncovering insights missing from an organization’s configuration management database (CMDB).
DataBee for PCI-DSS 4.0 Preparedness
Building upon capabilities already provided by DataBee CCM, its continuous controls monitoring (CCM) solution, DataBee is now offering DataBee Continuous PCI, designed to help customers meet the new PCI-DSS 4.0 requirements.
This new CCM feature for PCI-DSS 4.0 preparedness provides automated, proactive monitoring for key PCI-DSS 4.0 controls, dramatically reducing the amount of time governance, risk and compliance (GRC) teams have to spend on manually gathering the data necessary for periodic compliance reports and reducing complexity. DataBee Continuous PCI enables customers to identify compliance stakeholders using data they can trust, and to conduct proactive compliance remediations that enhance security and reduce compliance violations.
DataBee 2.0 for the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform is now available on AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). All other 2.0 capabilities are also available immediately on the Snowflake Data Cloud.

Comcast Technology Solutions launches cloud-based Managed Channel Origination service across EMEA
Powered by Sky’s world-class infrastructure and operations, and delivered as a fully managed service from Comcast Technology Solutions
Enables media companies to outsource and modernize the creation, management, and distribution of linear and OTT channels
DENVER AND LONDON – September 13, 2023 — Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) today announced the launch of a new cloud-based Managed Channel Origination service for customers across EMEA. Combining Sky’s regional infrastructure and operations with the capabilities of CTS, it enables media companies to outsource and modernize the creation, management, and distribution of linear TV and OTT video channels via a fully managed 24x7 service.
In today’s ultra-competitive environment for premium video and TV, media companies need ways to improve operational efficiency, reduce total cost of ownership, improve their security posture, reduce their environmental footprint, and future-proof their ability to deliver improved experiences to audiences across screens and geographies. Managed Channel Origination was designed to meet these demands with a highly versatile, secure, and scalable cloud-based solution backed by Comcast Technology Solutions.
For decades, Comcast Technology Solutions has been an established market leader providing Managed Channel Origination for hundreds of channels from its facilities in the U.S. to serve North American audiences. For the first time, this capability is being extended to EMEA by leveraging Sky’s master control video and metadata platforms coupled with CTS’ portfolio of product solutions. Managed Channel Origination provides media companies with a unified workflow, from content acquisition through delivery, with 24x7 service level agreements (SLAs).
“Bringing cloud-based Managed Channel Origination to the shores of Europe and beyond will create new possibilities for media companies and content providers” said Fraser Stirling, Global Chief Product Officer, Comcast and Sky. “Bringing our world leading technology and our decades of experience in content operations will enable a new level of flexibility, visibility and innovation to customers of Comcast Technology Solutions— and even more importantly—more content to consumers in ever more engaging ways.”
"Media companies across EMEA are exploring new paths to address many structural challenges facing the premium video industry," said Bart Spriester, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Streaming, Broadcast, & Advertising for Comcast Technology Solutions. "Managed Channel Origination aims to help strengthen their video businesses, improve workflow efficiency, and drive innovation. Our customers benefit from a unified workflow, while removing technical complexity and their reliance on disparate technology vendors or heavy CapEx investments. They can also trust in the same proven technology used by Sky and Comcast to deliver their own channels at scale. We're proud to offer our cloud-based Managed Channel Origination as a fully managed service to our customers across EMEA."
Key Capabilities and Benefits
Managed Channel Origination provides the capabilities needed to acquire, prepare, create, package, and deliver linear or online channels and video content across devices. Content is acquired either as live video or file-based acquisition via satellite, fiber, or secure IP. Channels are then prepared with CTS’ rendering operations, cloud-based content supply chain implementation, media asset management, and traffic and metadata services. Next, channels are created with capabilities such as channel automation playout (e.g., advanced graphics, SCTE triggers, closed captioning, and more), master control, and VideoAI™. From there, channels are prepared with the necessary encoding, encryption, and authorization policies, then delivered via satellite uplink, fiber, secure internet, or CDNs for MVPDs and vMVPDs to any screen. Managed Channel Origination’s redundant and diverse IP routing infrastructure provides a certified, secure global playout solution to accelerate delivery. Key benefits include:
Reliability: Managed Channel Origination ensures channel availability and quality of service (QoS) by using an active-active cluster of multiple nodes that are actively running the same service simultaneously, all within Sky’s secure cloud tenancy. This design provides full redundancy and enables CTS to provide the highest possible SLAs. Customers are also provided with 24x7 master control with in-room, layered operational, management, engineering, and on-site vendor support and expertise.
Flexibility and Performance: The cloud-based solution provides cost efficiency that enables customers to pay for capacity and services only as needed. By pre-rendering video before playout, it also accelerates the ability to process content, effectively leverage metadata, and deliver ultra-high quality video playback across devices. Channels and services can be launched quickly with IP-based routing and self-contained playout services. Simultaneous OTT/IP distribution with built-in handoff for live linear streaming is supported. Customers can easily reach millions of viewers through uplink services and numerous distribution options.
Unified Workflow and Accountability: Channel playout operations are consolidated into one workflow, while using a flexible and platform-independent operational model. A single-partner solution from CTS offers accountability and protection across vendors and systems to streamline implementation, operations, and technical support.
Proven Technology and Scale: Managed Channel Origination is engineered for future growth and innovation by leveraging the economies of scale, technology investments, and product advancements of Sky and Comcast. Customers benefit from using the same proven technology used by Sky and Comcast to deliver their own channels to viewers around the globe. The new service is part of CTS’ comprehensive Live Linear Suite, and can also be coupled and integrated with additional services from CTS’ broad portfolio, including Cloud TV Suite with VideoAI, AdFusion™, and more.
Comcast Technology Solutions at IBC 2023
Comcast Technology Solutions will showcase its Managed Channel Origination service for the first time as part of its booth at this year’s IBC 2023 Conference in Amsterdam from September 15-18 in Hall 5, Stand 80. In addition, Peter Gibson, Vice President of Product at Comcast Technology Solutions will deliver a product overview on the Content Everywhere stage in Hall 5, on Stage 1: Stand 5A.28 on Saturday, September 16 at 12:15 p.m. Customers, prospects, and partners of CTS seeking to schedule on-site business meetings should visit: https://www.comcasttechnologysolutions.com/ibc-2023-transforming-way-world-connects.

CTS Delivers the Euros this Summer via Cloud Video Platform
As the 2024 UEFA European Championship (the Euros) heads into the halfway point of the tournament, CTS’s Streaming, Broadcast and Advertising (SB&A) team is getting in on the action with innovative infrastructure contributions and revolutionizing the way viewers experience and engage with the competition.
The team is elevating the Euros to new heights through their partnership with Deutsche Telekom (DT) by sourcing and providing the platform for television consumption across many countries in Europe via the Cloud Video Platform (CVP).
When it pertains to soccer/futbol, there will be millions of eyes on the Euros: 51 matches, all hosted in Germany at various venues and several games that will be exclusive to DT from June 14 until July 14.
“One of CTS’s key customer’s is Deutsche Telekom, a large provider in Europe, and its flagship country is in Germany,” said Bill Calton, VP, Global Operations, SB&A. “Our mission is connecting Comcast technology to the world, which means connecting people to the content they love, and nothing epitomizes that more than live sports.”
The CVP simplifies the management, monetization and publishing of video to any device, any destination and from anywhere. The CVP enables flexible monetization and optimizes workflows and the distribution of video on demand (VOD), live events, linear channels and syndication.
“We’ve covered other high-profile events, champions league and various other soccer-focused leagues, but nothing as big as this. This is almost like hosting a Super Bowl,” Bill explained.
Bill also mentioned how successfully completing this event will demonstrate to the global market that the system is capable of handling unprecedented scale.
“Being able to support an event at this level takes a lot of capabilities operationally and from an engineering standpoint. It will put a lot of wind in the sails of our teams in the US, Europe and Chennai to be able to prepare and execute this flawlessly. Also, being able to partner with Stephanie Trotter, SVP, Cloud Technologies, and her team was key.
They managed all the key infrastructure and data centers that underlies these efforts,” he shared.

Little Black Book and Comcast Technology Solutions launch AI-powered search at Cannes Lions 2024
London, UK – June 12, 2024 - Today, Little Black Book and Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) announce the launch of an AI-powered integration with the potential to transform the way the advertising and marketing industries can work. The two businesses are inviting industry leaders to the LBB & Friends Beach at Cannes Lions for sneak previews of the technology between 17th - 21st June.
You can register your interest for a preview in Cannes here.
Comcast Technology Solutions’ VideoAI™ will enable the integration of AI and machine learning to video content in the LBB Creative Library. This will provide a plethora of new search and reel-building capabilities for the entire advertising industry.
LBB has the fastest growing free-to-view advertising archive in the world. It has spent the last two years tagging and linking millions of credits to allow the work on LBB to be searched not only by company, location, genre and category but by every single person credited on work, making it akin to an IMDB of advertising. The application of CTS VideoAI™ to deliver enhanced search capabilities will take this to a whole new level.
CEO & founder of LBB, Matt Cooper comments: “Comcast Technology Solutions is now a long-term partner of LBB who we have worked with in many interesting ways. This next stage of our partnership brings the power of VideoAI™ to the LBB Creative Library making content searchable in a way no other public creative library is.’’
VideoAI™ revolutionizes LBB Creative Library, unlocking the power of semantic search. By automatically analyzing visuals, text, emotions, and sentiment, it enables precise searches across a variety of search criteria. Advertisers and content providers can now easily pinpoint specific frames, concepts, scenes, and elements – even when those elements aren't explicitly tagged or described.
In layman’s terms, marketers, creatives, producers, filmmakers, VFX artists, sound designers and more will be able to leverage video in the LBB Creative Library in a completely new way. It will allow users to build storyboards or Collections (reels) based on any search they want, in real-time. For example, users could search ‘advert with a car on a mountain,’ or ‘short films with happy people in red t-shirts’. VideoAI™ will return the videos that fit the brief. Launching with a significant portion of the creative library, this groundbreaking feature marks a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to innovation. We're eager to see how this technology is utilized and will be evaluating its potential for broader application within the LBB archive.
Matt adds: “To me one of the most beautiful things about this technology is the speed at which it returns results. By the time your video is in the system and transcoded, it will be available for semantic search. I have worked in archives/DAMS for 25 years now and I can tell you this is going to be crazy useful. This feature will be available to the entire LBB community and any visitor to the site. If I was a brand or agency with a system full of assets, I’d be looking at working this way too. It just makes sense. And the beauty of this is that it can be processed at scale, meaning your old assets can be cleaned, fixed and searchable in no time at all. It can potentially search for emotions, celebrities, subtitles and also our metadata too. Just imagine the time this can save a creative or brand or director in looking at scenes for pitches or treatments. Why wouldn’t you want this capability for your own archive of running footage, dailies, b-rolls etc.?
Simon Morris, Head of Enterprise Partnerships & Business Development from Comcast Technology Solutions says “I'm thrilled to partner with Matt and the Little Black Book team on this integration. Their dedication to creators, producers, and the ad community is unparalleled. Contributing a powerful search enhancement to the LBB Creative Library is a privilege. Semantic search is a game-changer, transforming how we interact with large content archives. It's not just about finding a needle in a haystack; it's about understanding the entire tapestry.”

For decades, Comcast Technology Solutions has been an established market leader providing Managed Channel Origination for hundreds of channels from its facilities in the U.S. to serve North American audiences. Last year, the company extended its MCO capabilities to EMEA by leveraging Sky’s master control video and metadata platforms coupled with Comcast Technology Solutions’ portfolio of product solutions.
Managed Channel Origination provides media companies with a unified workflow, from content acquisition through delivery, with 24x7 service level agreements (SLAs). It provides the capabilities needed to acquire, prepare, create, package, and deliver linear TV and OTT channels. Content is acquired either as live video or file-based acquisition via satellite, fiber, or secure IP. Channels are then prepared with Comcast Technology Solutions’ rendering operations, cloud-based content supply chain implementation, media asset management, and traffic and metadata services. Next, channels are created with capabilities such as channel automation playout (e.g., SCTE triggers, advanced graphics, closed captioning, and more), master control, and VideoAI™. From there, channels are prepared with the necessary encoding, encryption, and authorization policies, then delivered via satellite uplink, fiber, secure internet, or CDNs for MVPDs, vMVPDs, and OTT to any screen. Managed Channel Origination’s redundant and diverse IP routing infrastructure provides a secure global playout solution to accelerate delivery.
Managed Channel Origination is part of Comcast Technology Solutions’ comprehensive Live Linear Suite, and can also be coupled and integrated with additional services from Comcast Technology Solutions’ broad portfolio, including Cloud TV Suite, AdFusion, and more.

Rogers to bring world-class Comcast and Xfinity products to Canada
New research finds majority of Canadians say the number of streaming services and apps is overwhelming
New entertainment service will simplify the viewing experience onto one platform
Company to introduce 10G internet for seamless and reliable connectivity
TORONTO – April 24, 2024 - Rogers
Communications announced today a 10-year agreement with Comcast to bring the latest award-winning Xfinity products and technology to Canadians across the country. Soon, Rogers [xx] millions of customers will be able to experience the future of entertainment with a new device powered by Entertainment OS, the next generation of connectivity via the best gateways and devices, as well as an expanded suite of home security products and features all developed by Comcast and Xfinity.
“Our partnership with Comcast builds on our legacy of bringing Canadians the best networks, entertainment and services in the world,” said Tony Staffieri, President and CEO, Rogers Communications. “Canadians want to be connected to the best entertainment, anywhere, without interruption and we’re proud to partner with Comcast to make this a reality.”
Comcast is a global media and technology company that offers a world-class suite of connectivity and platform products to millions of customers worldwide including in the United States under the Xfinity brand. As part of the agreement, the latest broadband, smart home and connectivity products available to Xfinity customers will be coming to Canada through Rogers starting later this year.
"As a world leader in converged experiences inside and outside the home, this platform will make it easy and simple for Rogers’ customers to connect to what they love with a seamless experience, whether on the big screen in their home or their smartphone on the go,” added Staffieri.
"Building on our nearly decade-long partnership with Rogers, we’re thrilled to deliver the next-generation of our incredible entertainment and connectivity products, like Entertainment OS and the latest gateways, to millions of customers across Canada,” said Dave Watson, Chief Executive Officer of Connectivity and Platforms, Comcast. “Now, with the addition of these new products and services, even more customers in North America will be able to take advantage of Comcast and Xfinity’s innovative technologies.”
The average Canadian subscribes to nearly twice as many streaming apps than five years ago and broadband data usage at Rogers has grown 200% in the same period. New research commissioned by Rogers shows that the majority of Canadians (55%) say the number of streaming apps is overwhelming with approximately half saying (50%) searching for this content is time-consuming and admit they sometimes can’t find the show or sporting event they want to watch. The study also found accessing all streaming apps on one platform is the most appealing TV feature.
Today’s announcement underscores Rogers’ commitment to ensuring Canadians have the best networks, the best content and the best experiences. Below is an overview of the offerings:
World Class Entertainment
Rogers’ customers will soon be able to enjoy the next generation of entertainment, with Entertainment OS. This platform will bring live sports, entertainment and news, on-demand, and streaming apps into one, simple view so customers spend more time watching and less time searching with the award-winning voice remote and integrated interface.
10G Internet
Simply put, Rogers is investing to deliver the best internet experience, so customers can post, stream, game and take video calls all at the same time. Through this agreement, Rogers will offer its customers the latest gateways developed by Comcast, enabling them to experience 10G technologies, like multi-gigabit speeds, ultra-low lag and even better reliability. This will deliver truly converged and seamless experiences between WiFi and wireless, and between devices and apps.
Reliable Internet
Rogers will be the first internet provider in Canada to offer a product designed to maintain connectivity when a storm hits, trees are down, or a customer experiences a local outage. Dubbed Storm-Ready WiFi to Xfinity customers in the U.S., the product was recently lauded as one of the most innovative of the year by Fast Company. The device is equipped with cellular backup and a rechargeable battery to keep customers up and running for hours. When the power goes out, the customer’s network automatically transitions to cellular back-up so they can continue to use of the Internet. The device also doubles as a WiFi extender to deliver a strong WiFi signal to those hard-to-reach corners of the home.
Innovative Smart Home Technology
Building on the existing Self Protect service available to Rogers’ customers, Rogers will soon launch new home security hardware, including sensors, to complement the existing options of cameras and doorbells, with the added benefit of on-demand emergency dispatch at the touch of button.
Commercial details will be announced as products and services are made available, starting later this year.
Today’s announcement builds on Rogers’ commitment to bring the best innovations from around the world to Canadians. Rogers is partnering with SpaceX and Lynk Global to bring satellite-to-phone coverage nation-wide to ensure Canadians stay connected in areas beyond the limits of traditional wireless networks. Rogers plans to launch satellite-to-mobile phone technology in 2024, starting with SMS texting, mass notifications and machine-to-machine AI applications, and then expand the service to include voice and data services.

Hubbl launches in Australia!
CTS helps Foxtel Group deliver a new way to search less and watch more
Foxtel Group’s vision for Hubbl was to create a new streaming platform that makes it easier for viewers to connect with more of the content they love. Just like consumers around the world, Australian audiences are faced with an often-intimidating array of services and destinations. Foxtel saw an immediate need to design a new platform that could “bring it all into one place,” giving people a centralized, intelligent hub that would shorten and straighten the line between each piece of content and its newest fans.
Lots of choice is great – Hubbl makes choosing easier
Available as either a streaming box or through a smart TV known as Hubbl Glass, Hubbl brings the best available streaming and entertainment services into one comprehensive experience. Easy to set up, and powered by Comcast’s Entertainment OS it incorporates innovations in recommendation technology that assist viewers as they navigate through their multitude of subscriptions and services, offering up great programming that they might not have discovered otherwise. Hubbl provides unique features such as Stack & Save, and Single View billing, making it easier for users with multiple streaming services to manage their setups and subscription costs.
Hubbl gets smarter as it goes – not just for the consumer experience but also for the Hubbl team. The CTS partnership rests on a foundation of continuous insight and improvement, with crucial feedback returned to Hubbl on how to improve the entire experience for Hubbl subscribers.
Entertainment OS: the brains behind the box
Entertainment OS from Comcast is the core intelligence behind Hubbl’s fantastic new streaming experience and continues to be syndicated by operators around the world to give consumers more command, more control, and more reasons to keep watching. As more devices adopt the Entertainment OS experience – from set-top boxes to complete TV systems like Sky’s own Sky Glass, providers can really own the experience at the heart of the home, and turn a complicated video ecosystem into a fun, engaging time that makes the most of the best screen in the home.

The Buzz about Continuous Controls Monitoring (CCM)
Cybersecurity budgets have expanded and so have the arsenal of cyber and IT tools. This makes cyber-risk management programs highly scrutinized against their effectiveness and investment. Unfortunately, organizations still struggle to eliminate manual processes and effectively evaluate the efficacy of their tools, and protect against adversaries and threats.
