For media companies that frequently broadcast live events, such as sports games, the workflows for managing and monetizing multiple live events just got easier with the full suite of mpx services. Using mpx Live Events, you can now automate the recording process by setting your encoders to stop and start at specific times, and the pre-screening feature in the mpx Console to help you make sure that everything is on track. Since mpx Live Events is fully integrated with mpx, your live events can also utilize mpx Replay (which provides start-over functionality and converts video assets for catch-up and video-on-demand). And, as a part of mpx Commerce, you can monetize your live events by packaging them as pay-per-views (PPV), electronic sell-throughs (EST), or subscriptions.
For example, let’s say your media company has the exclusive rights to live broadcast the World Freestyle Skiing Championship. This event hosts three competitions over three days, starting with Moguls on Tuesday at 9:00am-12:00pm PST, Aerials on Wednesday at 9:00am-12:00pm PST, and Dual Moguls at 9:00am-12:00pm Thursday.
mpx Live Events allows you to set your encoders up at these prescribed event start and end times. Then, you can use mpx Commerce to provide free access for the first two events, and PPV for the third. Or, bundle all three events into an extreme skiing sports subscription.
